This TED Talk was certainly different from any other ones I've ever seen because instead of having a well-spoken adult, we had a well-spoken 11 year old boy. Not only was his speech persuasive and straightforward, he added little jokes in every once in a while, which I have to admit were pretty good. Another thing I liked about this TED Talk was that Baehr stayed on-topic throughout the whole speech and he had A LOT to say. Everything was well worded ,too, which was impressive because he's only 11 years old.
In this TED Talk, Birke Baehr was trying to persuade his audience that we should watch what we are eating. He states that many brands are very misleading and make younger kids want to consume their products because the packaging is colorful and there might be toys included inside the box . Little do they( or the consumers) know what is actually IN their food.
Companies don't really care about our health, they manipulate seeds in labs so that it's result is completely different from what they started with and it eventually will become processed and processed foods are very unhealthy for us.
We aren't eating what nature intended us to eat. We are eating manipulated and processed foods that will eventually give us a trip to the hospital. The majority of us are unaware of what chemicals and pesticides are in our food. The sad thing is that we continue to eat these foods that are completely bad for us.
This 11 year old states that he wants to be an organic farmer because he was inspired by this one farmer who totally differed from the other farmers. He didn't use ANY chemicals on his crops, and they were 100% natural, homegrown and pesticide free. The farmer was called a "lunatic" because he wouldn't use chemicals to preserve his crops and he was all natural.
Baehr thinks that we can all make a change by simply choosing to ea healthier and go to farmers markets and checking the labels of our foods and just overrall trying to eat less processed foods.
